In summer, Montalbert, a mid-altitude village close to the forest, offers spectacular panoramic views of Mont Blanc and a typical Savoyard atmosphere. You will discover its traditional architecture as you wander along the pretty, lively, car-free shopping street. For a few hours or for a whole day, the hiking trails head rapidly into the dense, unspoiled forest, running alongside refreshing streams and waterfalls. The canine, sporty version of hiking is “Cani Rando”, a walk where the participants are harnessed to a sled dog. For a lovely end to the day, you can read for a while on the huge panoramic terrace at Le Fornelet or enjoy a wild ride down the 125 m giant waterslide. And you cannot leave without trying the “Mountain Cart”, a 4-wheeled machine that takes you down a 4.4km-long course that descends 620m through the forest. Two events traditionally mark the summer season in Montalbert, the “Festoche des Mioches” and “Dolce Vita”.
In winter, Montalbert with its pretty chalets in traditional style will charm you with its authentic and magical atmosphere. The gondola will take you right into the Paradiski® area in just a few minutes. If you want to experience the mountains in a different way, you can try alternative snow sports to spice up your holiday: Airboard, Snakegliss or Yooner. There is also a varied programme of live shows in the local auditorium. Not forgetting the gastronomic “extra” offered by Phil Howard, the famous Michelin-starred London chef who has chosen Montalbert as the location for his restaurant, Union, where he combines fresh seasonal produce and local products.
