Altitude 700 m - On the banks of the Isère river, the pretty town of Aime La Plagne is worth visiting at any time of the year
In winter, whether you arrive by car or train, the delightful town of Aime La Plagne offers a lovely place to stop before continuing on up to the altitude sites of La Plagne, twenty or so kilometres further on. Around the majestic thousand-year-old basilica, resplendent in the snow, Aime La Plagne has a concentration of artisans and small trendy boutiques that are more than a match for the ones in the nearby large towns. Cheese addicts take note: there is even a 24-hour Beaufort cheese vending machine that you will love!
In summer, it is time for white-water activities and cultural pleasures. Hotels, campsites and refuges offer a variety of formulas to fit your preferred style of holiday. Every Thursday (all year round), there is a market with 100% local products in the town centre. Every Thursday during the summer, as part of the Jeudis d'Aime, outdoor concerts take place next to the thousand-year-old basilica. Aime La Plagne is also distinguished by the richness of its heritage and its hiking trails that head up the well-named Versant du Soleil (the “sunny side”). To discover the legendary Isère river, you can try rafting. Other white-water swimming activities and canyoning are also proposed for those who want an even more thrilling experience. The best place to relax at the end of the day has to be the leisure park at Le Gothard with its lake in a lush green setting.
